Apologies for asking these questions as some may seem trivial to you.
1) When you speak about mba connect, do you mean the official web site of INSEAD? i.e. already admitted students are checking the stats and (kindly) posting them here for us? If so, this means currently 421 people have been admitted as a fact? (congrats to all of you!)
2) Has anyone been rejected yet for Sept 2014 intake Round 3 and/or rejected from the wait list (sorry to ask as I realize this may be painful, then again those individuals may be busy with re-applications rather than coming back to this forum - good luck to you, wish you all the best).
3) Would you know if INSEAD notifies people only through their France office? Or has anyone received emails/phone calls from Singapore?
(I am asking cause three consecutive Thursday this year are public holidays in France and my French friends have assured me that MOST people in France take off Friday as a bridge day. Thus, France has three "long weekends" this month.)
4) Some of you use abbreviations saying you received a call from "TS". I have seen some other abbreviations, none of which I recognized. What does that mean?
I am asking as I have had correspondence with three people from INSEAD's admissions committee (all based in France), none of which matched the abbreviations posted here. In fact, I had searched and didn't find any of the people I spoke to and/or e-mailed abbreviated on this forum. Yet those were the people who send feedback to me (such as invitation for interviews). So I wondered, do these abbreviation stand for names (I may not know) or something else. How many people are there to notify prospective students?
5) Has anyone of you applied in R3 and already been accepted (or rejected)?
Good luck to the rest of us who are still waiting.
I have done some research and come to the following conclusion, assuming 421 is the right number of firmly admitted and accepted students:
Over the last few years (that is Jan and Sept) INSEAD has admitted on average 500 students. The range was something like 480-510 if I am not mistaken according to this web site. If we use the 500 average, and currently 421 accepted students, it leaves us with only 79 to be notified. By the way, on average 40% start in Singapore and 60% in France. This has been (almost) bang on for all the previous years.
Now, INSEAD claims that each round is fair and takes about the same number of students. Assuming that is the case, then about 166 or 167 students are admitted per round on the basis of a total 500. Since 79 are yet to be admitted this means about 42% of R3 are yet to be admitted.
If we were to take 510 as a benchmark of total students, then the maths gets a bit easier. 170 students per round. And 89 yet to be admitted (52% of R3).
This also means that the vast majority has been admitted already and that only 16-17% of the total class are yet to hear back. But it also means that about half of R3 have heard back whilst the other half is still awaiting answers.
