ouch. You need to give yourself a break from typing.

Maybe use a voice recorder to make notes about your essays for now.

Hey river, get better soon. sounds like a nasty one.

I am in R&R mode too .. LBS (19th) and Wharton ( 11th) really burnt me out. Taking some time off to chill and think about contingencies. Might go to the INSEAD presentation in Sydney tonight.

Lets hear it for sick leave.

Speaking of which, has anyone called out to work on their apps?

Looks like a lot of us GMATClub-ers had a very unproductive weekend. I spent mine suit shopping. Thanks to all the advice here, I've got myself a very nice suit - Dark Grey, very faint stripes (I really don't know what you call them), single breasted and with two vents. Will pick it up this Thursday. I just hope I get to use it....
@ River: Ouch. Hope it heals soon.

Wanted to take off......but Lord Murphy knows the apt time to start a crunch project.........

River - try working this into an essay........something abt how you overcame adversity to learn how to type with your left hand.

ok .......bad jokes aside, get well soon man. P has a good idea - try one of them voice to text convertors - free trial for a week or so.

My weekend: 3 hours at a wedding, 7 hours at a reception, 6 hours reviewing statistics, 3 hours re-editing my resume after a 2nd year provided a lot of interesting ideas, 3 hours reading about patent law and antitrust economics, 4 more hours re-editing my resume for a more solid polish.

Yikes RR!

I was super unproductive this weekend. Went up to wine country with friends, watched Cal blow it, drank too much, and spent most of today recovering. Hopefully this means I'll be refreshed and ready to crank out two apps in two weeks starting tomorrow.

It's hard to have a resume that stands out at the GSB. Everyone's looks impressive (some incredibly so), so I have to really put forward an effort to differentiate.

ack! sorry to hear about that river! get well soon!

I've been a nervous wreck these days trying to avoid injuries that may take me out of the application/interview process... Actually, I missed a car accident by 0.5 seconds last week. Some crazy guy got off the freeway ramp and ran a red light from my right, good thing I saw him out of the corner of my eyes and braked just in time. Then immediately a car going the other way T-boned into the red-light violator, 10 ft away from me. That was a surreal moment for me.

Anyway, this weekend has been VERY productive. Spent 10+ hours doing final essay wordsmithing and application checking. Submitted both Stanford and UCLA apps. Enjoyed an afternoon of movies and games with friends on Saturday, and then worked most of the day on Haas essays and applications today, with a tennis match thrown in there (lost in a very close 2 sets, unfortunately). Just finished doing many hours of work research for some big VP presentation tomorrow... kinda nervous bout that.

I think after tomorrow, work will become a lot less stressful, and with only 1 app left for R1, my stress level is gradually reducing...

Sorry to hear about your accident River, hope the finger heals soon. I spent my weekend watching the sox and pats (mlb & nfl .com) you'd think that ESPN would carry game 7 of the ALCS instead of beach cricket....other than that freaking out that my wharton status has not changed from submitted.

Sorry to hear about the accident, river. Hope you are letting the finger heal properly.

I am on a break from applications these days (It's been 10 days actually). Maybe I don't deserve such a long break considering that I only applied to 2 schools in R1. I guess it's time I get working on the R2 applications now.

nice mNeo. How does the break feel? Right now I'm looking at Kellogg's essay questions and puking a little at the thought of writing another essay... hopefully a month off in South America will change that...

Hey River, I hope you have a fast recovery.

I had a very unproductive weekend. Officialy my MIT essays suck, I spent part of the weekend trying to remember some better histories, and when I realized I won't be able I spent around 4 hours watching some series...

Because of the "problems" I had, I decided to fill out all the application forms for the schools that I hadn't yet filled. At least I could somehow alliviate my guilty feeling.

Regarding the days off work to prepare the essays. My manager proposed that to me, he has an MBA and remembers how hard it was for him; however, I couldn't as a colleague suffered a motorcycle accident and we are severed understaffed with another disease problem in our team, it would be very irresponsible from my side to take this days off. At least my manager was very understanfing and even mentioned this in my LoR. It seems that Lord Murphy is also making things harder for me either.
And markets are getting worse once again, it's going to be a long fall for me. I just hope that US do not hard land, or if so, that in 2 to 3 years from now the job market gets as strong as now.
