Hello,
I’ve read somewhere online that B-school’s ug gpa stats were only for students coming from us based universities. Meaning that an international applicant with a low gpa wouldn’t negatively affect the school’s stats.
Can someone shed some light on this?

Good question.
I definitely alluded to this in some of my earlier posts. I’d say it depends. Look at these two cases.
1. You’re from a university that’s extremely well known and therefore has a grading system that has enough data points for adcoms to know your academic stats.
GPA would matter here. For example - IITs in India, well known universities in Asia, Europe etc.
2. A not so popular undergrad with fewer students going to business schools. Adcoms often don’t know how to understand the grading system in these schools (unless you mention stuff like class rank or percentiles etc.). In those cases GMAT compensates for unknown academic stats.
This is my theory. Your mileage may vary.
