My pre-MBA internship with a VC firm last year played a key role in securing various summer internship interviews/opportunities this year. If it is related to a career that you intend to pursue after bschool, it is definitely worth it.

But pre-MBA internship is not required, and there is no guarantee that it will help you in future recruiting. Therefore, if it will complicate your personal life, there is no point of making it happen.

Do you think I'll burn any bridges if I turn it down? I most likely won't be working for this company again. I can still get a letter of recommendation from my current manager, instead of the internship sponsor.

OK, just heard back. Looks like I've got the internship if I want it. Personally, I'm leaning towards taking it. Decision time.

Take it if you are a career switcher. It helps a LOT during interviews and recruiting for the regular internships - simply because your story becomes so much more believable and it shows that you are already working your way towards the aim.

Yeah, I say do it if you haven't accepted already. It's all about the networking... you could meet someone on this internship that becomes instrumental in doing something for you personally or professionally in 1, 3, 6 or 10+ years down the road. You just never know! Good luck!

I think you made the right decision. The internship will be a great learning situation and you will be building bridges rather than burning them. As for the sublet, I cannot help you but wish you the best of luck.

If my thoughts were helpful, please give kudos.
Thanks,

Pre-MBA is engineering; post-MBA is marketing/consulting/business development.

Wow, I was just kinda offered a full-time position after the internship. One of my project sponsors is leaving the company for another job, and one of her coworkers who will be taking over jokingly asked me if I wanted a full-time job, in front of his manager! My project sponsor said I was going to b-school in the fall, and her manager asked me where I was going. I guess I must've been doing a good job, eh?

Nice! You know, that's how a lot of positions are filled: internally, through little happenstance moments like that.
