Yup, on campus. I can't tell you how much I hated high school. It was hard to be the happy, excited confident applicant when you bring up high school.. Yukky!

do you guys think, we should start preparing for interviews now?

I submitted apps for 3 schools for R1. 2 more to go in R2.

Can we manage both apps and interview preparation?(and of course work in office :P )

Probably not. Unless you are likely to be invited to interview while still working on apps., I would stick to apps. until submitted, then prepare for interviews.

Aren't interviews for R1 schools generally in Nov/Dec timeframe, when people are working on R2 apps?

Just curious.

Work - What's that?!? Oh...are you referring to that 'thing' we do in between the essay writing sessions and GMATclub browsing sessions?? I call that 'a break' ;-)

But by that time we are more or less done with our R2 apps (going at this pace). No?

I personally do not plan on writing a single word for my R2 apps until I get back from my vacation in early December, right smack during interview time (I hope!). But then again, the essays should be much easier after working on 3 sets (15 essays) for R1.

what is the purpose of the interview? Is it a screening process or is it meant to confirm the candidates almost finalized or is it just another way to acquire more information on the applicant?

Depends on the school. Kellogg interviews *nearly* all its applicants. So here it is more of a information collection resource. HBS on the other hand interviews roughly 30 - 40% percent of it's applicants. So here it seems more of a screening mechanism.

I read this in some article/blog. Unofficial information, but from what I hear (from students and alumni) it's pretty accurate.

I agree that K interviews almost everyone. H interviews around 20-ish% since most people invited to interview are later admitted (speculation is about 50 - 70%) and based on a 14% admit rate, etc.

Lepium, do you know the application volume spread between R1, R2 and R3. Thanks!

If you get a Stanford interview, then you have a 50% chance of getting in after the interview. That's what I've read on blogs and stuff.
