Re: The following table shows the percentages of military elites who get n [#permalink]
For each of the following statements, select Supported if the information in the table accurately supports the statement. Otherwise, select Not supported.

There were more strong partisans who reported getting some amount of news from Twitter than weak partisans who reported the same as part of the survey. Not Supported. It will depend on the actual numbers and not the percentages of respondents in each category.

There were fewer than 300 National Defense University students and fewer than 300 West Point Cadets surveyed.
Not Supported. The total% of NDU students is 80.39, and that of WPC cadets is 130.03. Even if we consider 1 min candidate in each category there can be multiple values.

Approximately 40% of the military elites surveyed were students at the National Defense University. Not Supported. It will depend on the actual numbers and not the percentages of respondents in each category.

Re: The following table shows the percentages of military elites who get n [#permalink]
q1

Strong Partisan % are given by 74.42 , 22.09 ,3.49 ,2.33 and 18.60

Weak Partisan % are given by 69.44,16.67 ,3.47 ,4.17 and 19.79

now lets create fractions out of percentages by approx and see what denominator is compulsary in each group

strong partisan we get % to fraction as 3/4 ,1/5, 1/30 ,1/5 ,1/5 so denominator lcm = 60 so we can have multiples of 60 to the limit of 478

now for weak partisan we get % to fraction as 7/10 ,1/6,1/30,1/25 ,1/5 so denominator lcm = 150 so we can have multiples of 150 to the limit of 478

so we can have a case 60 sp and 150 wp so sp < wp or we can have 180 sp and 150 wp so sp> wp

so its not necessary that strong partisan > weaker partisan - answer is no for q1

q2

There were fewer than 300 National Defense University students and fewer than 300 West Point Cadets surveyed.

now lets see % for NDU and wpc

ndu % are 49.45, 13.26 ,6.08 ,5.52 and 6.08

and wpc % are 79.86 ,18.09 ,1.37 ,3.41 ,27.3

so converting % to fractions we get

ndu - 1/2 , 1/7, 1/20 , 1/20 , 1,20 so lcm of denominator is 140

so ndu is multiple of 140

wpc - 4/5 , 1/6 , 1 , 1/25 , 1/4 so lcm of denominator = 60

so wpc is multiple of 60

now as given condition we have ndu +wpc = 478
we see that if ndu > 300 ie = 140*3 = 420 , multiple of 60 for ndu wont fit in

similarly if wpc > 300 lets say 360 then multiple of 140 wont fit in for ndu

so definitely we have fewer than 300 National Defense University students and fewer than 300 West Point Cadets surveyed.

so this is yes as per the table answer for q2

q3 -Approximately 40% of the military elites surveyed were students at the National Defense University

as in last q we got ndu students to be multiple of 140 so students could be 140/478 ~= 30% or 280/478 or 60%

so the answer to q3 is no - approx 40% students were not surveyed from military elites

This one is a comparatively lengthy question due to not having the table sorting feature here, Also this is a hard one in difficulty. I would like to remind you that we can use calculator in the IR section, we have an in built calculator here in IR forum if you found one then good else you can ping me.

Ahh TarunKumar1234 you were on the opposite corner Sumi1010 well grabbed Deepakjhamb Good try. Good Luck for the upcoming questions, will post the points table shortly.

Thank you
