Hi,

Will a score of 51% in graduation lead to good universities abroad for MBA , will i be eligible ? or will it stop for pursuing an MBA in good schools? For ex- University of Melbourne etc.

Kindly help with answer if anyone can help as this is the first time I am applying.

ASHI_PANDEY, AdComs typically aim to assess a candidate's fit to the analytical rigour and international nature of the program. To that end, a low score might concern them whether the candidate can cope up with the program's (and post MBA career) demands.

Having said that, all profiles are evaluated holistically i.e. acads, CV, GMAT/ GRE score, essays, motivations, interviews, etc. which means that any below-average factor would have to be compensated by being above average (ideally excellent) in other factors. As long as your target school doesn't have a hard cut-off (which can be checked with AdCom), worrying about the past doesn't help. Having a strong GMAT/ GRE score, mentioning reasons for the low graduation score (in additional essays), having a solid work-ex and crafting strong essays can help minimize your risk.

Hello ASHI_PANDEY,

I hope you are doing well. A score of 51% in graduation is below the minimum entry requirement for the Master of Business Administration program at the University of Melbourne, which is 65% or a GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.

However, there are a few things you can do to improve your chances of getting accepted into an MBA program abroad:

1. Take additional courses or get a postgraduate degree. This will show admissions committees that you can handle the rigorous academic demands of an MBA program.
2. Gain relevant work experience. This will help you build your resume and demonstrate that you are committed to a career in business.
3. Get a good GMAT score. The GMAT is a standardized test that is used to assess MBA applicants' quantitative, verbal, and analytical skills. A high GMAT score can help to offset a lower GPA.

You may also want to consider applying to MBA programs that have less stringent admissions requirements. There are a number of good MBA programs in Australia and other countries that accept students with lower GPAs.

Here are some tips for applying to MBA programs with a lower GPA:

1. Be honest about your academic record in your application. Explain why your GPA is lower than it could be and what steps you have taken to improve your academic performance.
2. Highlight your strengths in your application. Focus on your work experience, extracurricular activities, and other accomplishments that demonstrate your potential as an MBA student.
3. Get strong letters of recommendation from professors, employers, and other professionals who can speak to your strengths and potential.

It is important to note that even if you meet the minimum entry requirements for an MBA program, there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. MBA programs are highly competitive, and admissions committees consider a variety of factors when making their decisions. However, by following the tips above, you can increase your chances of getting accepted into an MBA program, even with a lower GPA.

We offer a limited number of complimentary profile evaluations each week . We match you with the students and alums of top B-Schools according to your background and target schools. In this call, the experts will try to dig out your USP for top B-schools and provide you with honest feedback on your profile and chances to your target schools.

Good luck with your application process!

A higher Standard test score (GMAT/GRE) will take care of you.
