Is 670 on GMAT (Q42, V40, AWA 6) good enough for MIT or Harvard?

Hi Guys!

I just had the GMAT a couple of hours ago and got a 670, I felt really comfy with the Quant Section but somehow I got Q42.

Should I retake to push my GMAT score or 670 is good enough for Harvard or MIT on Round1?

Profile.

Nationality:  Mexican.
 Undergrad:  Economics (Mexican University)
 GPA:  Around 3.5
 Work Experience (3 years) : 2 years as Head of Project Finance in a Renewable Energy Company in Mexico. I structured the financial development and got the funding for 6th landfill to gas project in Mexico and was involved in another 4 projects. Now I am the Administrative Manager for a University in Mexico and an entrepreneur in the food services area (distribution of fish, fair trade bakery and owner of a restaurant.
 Extras:  Chairman of an NGO dedicated to spur youth proactivity in Nuevo León (my hometown), President and Counselor of Enactus (Student Association dedicated to Social Entrepreneurship), Exchange year in Belgium (Catholic University of Leuven). I have visited 27 countries in 3 different continents (hopefully the list will keep growing).

patodrums89 I recommend taking the GMAT again if you think you can raise the score 30-60 points, especially if you think you will improve the quant. While it certainly is possible to get into HBS or MIT with that score, when I look at your overall profile it doesn't look extremely strong and I would want you to meet or exceed the median GMAT scores in order to give yourself the best chance of getting in. Even if this means moving your app to round two, I would rather see you apply in round two with a higher GMAT than rush the app and get it in as is. Yep, retaking would be a good idea! Average score is almost 730 these days!

Thanks for sharing your profile. You have an interesting background but these are two of the best schools in the world and with your GMAT score well below the average scores of these two programs it makes sense to re-take especially since it is still August. No need to rush a submission if you feel left some points on the table. You want the AdComm to evaluate the best representation of your candidacy.

I just booked another date for the GMAT so I will be retaking in some weeks in order to push my quant higher.
