a > 3b

Statement 1:

a/b > 3

since RHS is always positive, LHS has to be positive

a and b have to be of same sign

if a & b are positive (a =16; b =4) then a >3b

but if a& b are -ve (a = 1-6; b = -4) then a < 3b

Therefore, statement 1 is insufficient

Statement 2:
b > 3

we don't know about a. a can be -ve or +ve. Statement 2 is also insufficient

Statement 1 + Statement 2

from statement 2, we know that b is +ve and greater than 3

then a has to be +ve (from statement 1)

=> a/b > 3 => a > 3b

Sufficient

IMO OA should be C

As positive / negative nature of b is unknown, the question a>3b cannot be answered.

(2) b > 3
As a is unknown, the question a>3b cannot be answered.

(1)+(2)
As b is positive from statement 2, a>3b.
