Is it better to get a recommendation from someone who has an MBA?

Or does it matter more what he/she can say about you and what I did with that supervisor as opposed to who he/she is?

It doesn't matter from whom you get the recommendation as long as it satisfies the requirement for the recommendation for each school.

The person who provides a recommendation for you must be able to explain your leadership skills, potential, weakness, and growth areas.

A recommendation from someone who knows you well that is exceedingly positive is the most important aspect. If the person is an alum or an MBA, I think it helps all things being equal, especially if they can speak to how they see you having a positive impact in their MBA community given their knowledge of b-school

GREAT question. First, I want the person who is going to write the most kick-ass letter. If they have an MBA, that can be helpful because they've been through the process themselves and know how important a great letter of recommendation is. BUT what's more important is that the person knows you well and can speak to your business impact.
