Is it ok to do MGMAT and the OG at the same time ?

Hey ,
Is it ok to do the MGMAT set of 8 strategy guides alongwith the 3 OGs at the same time . I mean whenever I finish 1 strategy guide is it ok to work out the corresponding problems from OG as directed in the MGMAT guide ? 
Also do I need to check the explanation for all the OG questions or should I check only the ones that I get incorrect ?

Absolutely - that's the way you want to do it.

I think you want to get the explanations for any question you were not sure how to solve/address and you want to mark it somewhere (either in a book or in an error log or GMAT ToolKit timer or MGMAT Archer, or...)

I also strongly advise using the OG books alongside the Manhattan series. This allows you to reinforce the concepts learned from the guidebooks.

No. There is no overlap between the OG 12 and GMATPrep.

If we're talking about the most recent versions of the OG material, then there is no overlap.

It seems that you're worried about exhausting all of your question resources too early. Don't worry, that won't happen. After you finish the three OG books, there's still lots of high-quality questions out there to use. The GMATClub tests and Sackmann's math sets are two examples for quant, and for verbal there's LSAT questions for CR and RC. Along with the GMATPrep software and practice tests from Manhattan, that's plenty of practice material available.

Another issue is to not get too bogged down with the OG material. The OG is essential, so by all means answer and fully review every question and explanation. However, it's not that great in terms of preparing for upper-level questions. Once you successfully complete the OG, move on to more advanced material.

I wouldn't say that there is NO overlap between OG12 and GMATPrep.

I distinctly remember getting 1 question each in the Quant in each of the 2 tests, straight out of the OG. I also got at least 6 SC straight from the OG (the sloth, ulcers, discus weights, Thelonius Monk, Deborah Sampson and Lotte Jacobs). That is quite a bit. 2 in 1 test, and 4 in another.

Except for SC, the overlap is minor. However, if your SC is still fresh in your mind, you will likely do better in your GMATPrep due to the fair amount of overlap.

Do the MGMAT work (and if you follow their books and/or classes, you will notice that they rely on the OG heavily as it is). After you complete it, write 1 GMAT Prep. See where you are at. Look at your weaknesses, and address those and finish the OG problems (esp. the Verbal parts).

Then in the last week before your test, do GMAT Prep2. That will give you a good idea where you stand before your exam. Also then in the week, look at the last bit where you went wrong, and perhaps do the GMAT Prep 1-2 again (of course this time your score will be inflated, as you will see some repeats; but you will get a lot more GMAT style questions before your exam).

Also, do some MGMAT CATs in between too. They are also pretty good and help build your timing and stamina (the most important factors for the GMAT).
