Is My Profile Competitive for Full-Time Executive MBA Programs at IIMs 19 Nov 2025, 23:30

Hi everyone,
I’d like to get some guidance on whether my profile is competitive for the full-time Executive MBA programs at IIMs / XLRI.
Profile Details:
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 38
  • Category: General
  • Education:
    • 10th (CBSE) – 75%
    • 12th (CBSE) – 73%
    • B.Tech in Mechanical engineering from Kerala University (2010 graduate) – 71%
Work Experience (Total: ~10 years):
  1. 2011–2013: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Systems Engineer
  2. 2018–Present: Southern Railways (Indian Railways), Supervisory role
Gap: Around 4+ years dedicated to UPSC / government exam preparation.

Given this background, I’d like to understand:
  1. Is my profile suitable/competitive for admission into the full-time Executive MBA programs at top IIMs (IIMA PGPX, IIMB EPGP, IIMC MBAEx, etc.) or XLRI GMP?
  2. Will the 4-year gap due to UPSC preparation significantly affect the evaluation?
  3. What GMAT score range should I target to strengthen my chances?
  4. Any additional steps you would recommend to improve my application?
