from one

y(x+1) = y

either y = zero

or x = -1..........insuff

from 2

x(y+1) = x

either x = zero

or y = -1.............insuff

both together

xy+y=y

y(x+1) = y

what if y = 0 , we cant devide 0/0 can we??

thats why unless it is mentioned or implied that y is not = 0 we cant follow your way.

IMO E
1) xy=0 does not suffice since x can be any sign with y=0 or x=0
2) same as 1

together no new info is provided
