If X is 1 and Y is -2 then it becomes 1^-2
This is 1/2 which is not equal to 1

So answer should not be A
I think it should be C

Anyone please correct if my analysis is wrong

There is a flaw in your calculation.
1^-2 = (1^2)^-1 = 1^-1 =1/1 = 1
