Hi Anirudh,

Great questions!

First of all you have a great background and an impressive set of experience. Based on our interactions with the ISB Admissions Executives, we can confidently say that they welcome a well-rounded and diverse pool of applicants with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Here's what we would suggest:
1. You should target a GMAT score of 710+ to maximize your chances at ISB
2. There is no "ideal" admit at any b-school per se. That said, if you position yourself as an multifaceted and driven startup executive you will be able to impress the admissions team
3 and 4. It's best to take your time and prepare for GMAT in a way that gets you a decent score, even if it means waiting till R2 before applying

If you would like to discuss further, we would be happy to set up a call with you and review your profile/resume in detail. We provide free 15 minute consultation for resume review or to discuss any MBA related questions.

Feel free to sign up on https://www.eddeglobal.com for a quick skype call.

Hi,
700+ in GMAT will take you to safe zone. Initially, try to score 700+ in GMAT.
Regarding, Round 1 or Round 2 discussion : Both Rounds have equal weightage but if you are aiming for scholarship , then Round 1 is preferable.

Hi A brief about myself,

10th - 89%
12th - 72%
BE - First Class - 62% - Pune University
GMAT - Haven't given it yet

Work Exp - 6 years in Consumer Durables & EdTech in Sales and Marketing Positions , (Product Dev > Product Management > Sales & P&L)
Most recent Position held - Associate General Manager - Sales & Customer Success at a Series C Funded EdTech Start Up handling $10M USD.

To be Honest - I have not been a great guy at Academics. Extra Curricular has been as much as organising the Annual Cultural Fest as the Chief in Charge and once i've been into work life I haven't quite been active on that side of my application.

A few things I would like to understand:

1. Required GMAT to get through to ISB.
2. With "Diversity" very important and of-course a good talent that ISB wants in its warehouse to churn out after the course, what's the ideal admit?
3. What's important : Round 1 (rushing into GMAT now and applying with the score) at what score?
4. If Round 2for me then what needs to be done to differentiate? or is there no significant difference?

Thanks.

Hi snahush
- Target 700+ and if possible 720+.
- Your main targets should be the IIM experienced MBA programs. The Singapore schools may consider you a bit too experienced, although they are not out of the league, and evaluate apps on a case by case basis.
- You can apply to ISB, but you will be among the most experienced people in the class (less than 2% of ISB's current class has this much experience). While your chances are not zero, and with a strong app and clear goals + a strong GMAT, you will have a chance, don't look at ISB as your only option.

Hi sheen22

- Seems to be some good work there, but you are broadly still in the hypercompetitive IT category. Target a minimum GMAT of 700, especially as your engineering GPA is also just about average.
- Please provide more details on your current work and responsibilities, for a better assessment of the professional profile.
- ECA seems fine from what you did in college; again, more details there would be appreciated for a better evaluation.

Hi All, need some assistance with a profile evaluation:

Undergrad College: BBS from Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Delhi University
Work Experience: Working with BCG as a research analyst for ~2 yrs
Academic Scores: Xth - 80%, XIIth: 93%, Undergrad: 68%, GMAT: 710

Additionally, i was also involved in some light extra-curricular in college - was part of the college placement cell and Enactus team. Have also won some university level and a couple of national level management competitions.

Looking to apply to ISB in the first round this year. Would love to know the perspective of the community here. What are my chances as things stand? And what i can i do to improve them?

Many thanks!

Hi Ketan08

- Pretty good profile and pretty solid chances. Acads/GMAT are all in place, and the BCG brand name certainly helps. At the ~2 year experience mark, you are at the lower end of the work experience spectrum, and the GMAT is around the limits of the range of tolerance for that bracket, but the BCG name will ensure you don't need a retake.
- ECA seems fine as well.
- Decent chances overall for R1 this year. Work hard and put in a solid app.

Hi pm1995

Thanks for the details. Here is our assessment:
- With 9 months of experience in software development, and 4 in marketing analytics, you need to be careful in terms of expressing your goals. You have moved functions (though they are related), and industries too, within a short span of time, and are now applying for an MBA. Therefore, clarity on goals and the need for an MBA now will be very important. You will need to apply to the Early Entry Option if you apply this year.
- ECA seems ok as there are some decent talking points there. Acads are all good, and the DTU brand (we have worked with several people from your school, and know that ISB perceives it as a good brand) will help as well.
- GMAT at 700 could be better, given the category and the applicant pool (EEO) that you will be in. As a DTU engineering, you can do better than Q47. We would suggest a retake. If you can achieve Q49, V40, that is a 720. Go for it.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.

Hi Akshatarora0112

Thanks for the information.
- Overall, you should have a good chance at the ISB process. The GMAT/acads/experience are all well in line.
- You do have some interesting experiences, and those will help too, with respect to diversity that ISB looks for.
- Well set overall. Start working on your apps, and target R1, as that will further help.

Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more queries as needed.
