Hi! Need some help in regards to what GMAT FE score should I aim for, and a profile evaulation?
10th - 9.8 CGPA
12th - 92%
Btech- 8.2 from an NIT college
I have about 4 years of work experience in the IT field
In terms of extra curriculars I unfortuntely do not have much. I am starting out my GMAT prep so any guidance on resources to use, score to aim for to get admission at ISB and/or anything I can do to better my profile would be highly appreciated!
TtTt1212 - your academic arc is good, given the NIT tag and GPA. Aiming for a strong GMAT score (675+ GFE) would be ideal.

Would like to understand the strength of your work-ex better e.g. which company(ies) have you worked in, key achievements, any promotions (?), etc. It'd be crucial to have a strong narrative covering your experiences, career goals, and how an MBA (particularly ISB) fits in. Check out here for guidelines and best-practices on how to approach ISB's latest essays.

Extracurriculars are important, but don't fret it if you aren't a national athlete or an award-winning musician. Each person is different, and playing to your strengths is a better strategy. Having said that, try to be involved in topics/ themes that interest you outside work, any such activities count.

Update: I took the GMAT FE and scored 665, Which I suppose is a 94 percentile / 720 on the old gmat.
I'm unsure if I should take the exam again.
I want to apply For R2 of ISB.
Earlier advice on this post had said a 720 should be good, can someone please guide me on this?
I have mentioned my academic performance earlier, but as I am an engineering grad from an NIT with 4 years of work exp at a big 4 company (in IT), I suppose I am part of the typical applicant to ISB. So not sure if I ought to try and get a better score to stand out.
I don't have any particular extra curriculars and am not very confident of writing the essays on my own but I suppose through guidance from admission consultants I could get there?
Should I get started with the other aspects of my application? I.e., my essays, talk to my manager about getting a LOR (as of now he is not aware of this)? Or do I work parallely on improving my GMAT score?

Any advice is highly appreciated:)

Hi,
On the basis of the score - Its not a blocker, go ahead and apply. If you think you can do better on the GMAT keep it parallel to your application prep, but start with the application/ essays part asap.

On the LOR, wait for the detailed discussion with whosoever you want to consult with, its best to start on all this after discussing with your mentor.

For essays, for application assistance packages feel free to reach out to us at https://www.goalisb.com/contact-goalisb we would like to look at the complete profile first.

All the best!

Dear TtTt1212,

We understand your concerns about your engineering background and IT work experience, which may place you within a larger pool of applicants at ISB. However, we believe your GMAT Focus Edition score is solid, and we recommend concentrating on your application, essays, and letters of recommendation to present your profile effectively rather than retaking the GMAT.

Your profile has some impressive highlights, including graduation from a top engineering college and experience with a Big 4 firm, which are highly selective companies. It's important to note that many candidates underestimate the impact they have had in their work experiences and struggle to present their interests and passions compellingly in their essays. With sufficient thought and the right guidance, we are confident we can help you identify impactful stories that will represent your profile well.

We would love to learn more about your background and assist you through your application journey. At Team Fly, we are a dedicated group of ISB alumni committed to helping aspiring candidates with profile positioning, essay critiques, and interview preparations (complete interview preparation and mock interviews- ISB MBA Admissions Interview Preparation Series).

Feel free to book a 15-minute free session for a detailed discussion with us: https://calendly.com/reachusfly/15min
