So, all YLP applicants were sitting in a small room from where alumni come and pick you up, I was picked too and the alum greeted me and I shook his hand. While on the way to the room, he asked me about ki where are you coming from? outstation ya city? and then I informed him city me kaha se so a short 40 minute comfortable drive, room enter hone me (converted bedroom) was another guy who introduced himself and I shook his hand and sat.
Right off the bat, they asked me how is your work going? (which is such an open-ended question) (also I’m a doctor working in Big 4) I took this opportunity to call it amazing, Im learning a lot, involved on so many projects, then went on to mention a senior care project Im working on. Phir mostly pura interview issi pe chala. so what sort of paper? what methodologies are you using? International best practices? how does X that you have considered compare to others which I gave examples for, Then I also mentioned Assistive living spaces so uspe viva hua, uska international vs India me kaisa chal raha which I tried to mentioned. At this point, it felt more like a job interview than ek MBA interview "friendly conversation". After the Assistive space monologue, I explained why the project was needed, and then they asked usse related any metrics I know so I went into the population pyramid of India and elderly % and population projections by UN till 2050, uske baad since I had mentioned another project about ambulance response times in Saudi, I was asked iski 3 learning kya Rahi, jisme I started explaining but they said pehle let’s have your 3 learnings and uske baad we’ll get into detail. Toh I started with traffic management, Employee retention and Ambulance Regulations compliance and explained to them what sort of ambulance there are. Then they asked me to explain from the senior care project, what 3-4 things quantifiable that we were researching: So I talked about Financing, Healthcare data collection, KOL, Capacity Building for Geriatricians, Seats, National Centres for Ageing, etc. (still felt like grilling) uske baad the younger alum asked me ki since you’re leaving core healthcare for cozy healthcare, how would you keep in teach, so I talked about mentoring, knowledge sharing, I have teaching experience on CV, I talked about research. He asked me further what sort of companies do I know about hiring? since they were asking such questions, I took it upon myself to tell them my short term and long term goals of working in consulting/ Prod in health tech and further down the line my own venture, uske baad they asked me the kind of role I want is niche, nahi Mila toh kya karoge, then I pivoted from there to say I would persevere in the company because ultimately I want to learn the business, baad me toh I will shift roles. Then I was asked about all the research and publications K had (15~) and will this continue in the future or was this solely and academic endeavour. so isme I talked about why India needs research, and from my research, ISB ne kal ki research conclave rakhvaya hai Mohali me which I mentioned (they might have liked to see maine research ki hai) and I also mentioned ki Even though I’ve left college, I’m working on a research paper with a junior who is still in college about bridging gender inequities in medicine. toh uspe they asked what kind is it like patient side or what? then I explained how I was in college involved in gender promotion etc and Not judt patients but also connected it to women in STEM and connected it to a Pubmed report I had read on statistics of SA, SH and women leaving the field. toh phir they asked what do you think could be reasons because the number I quoted seemed high so I started reasoning about societal values, patriarchal mindset and Examples of bias such as maternal leave and child rearing image. iske baad the senior alum asked me to quantify what particular aspect of broader healthcare I wanted to work in, vaise toh I had mentioned but I repeated and said I’m open to any roles when he mentioned all the broader aspects. after that, younger alum asked do you wanna tell us anything else about yourself? toh I started telling them about campus activities I did in colleges and how I was most proud of what I did starting a club in a college which was a traditional stem college which did nothing fun to now have a committee which has further subdivided to leave a forever legacy. iske alava I told about my hobbies like I like taking with friends, video games and deep diving into specific movie genres, basically told them extra hobbies besides from those I mentioned in resume because boring hojata. younger alum asked me what game did you last play so I said stardew valley, but then I thought thoda niche hojayega and had to connect it back toh I said Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Survivor, kyunki it is an Electronic arts game, and then I mentioned ki electronic arts does hire from ISB. alum reminisced how he earlier used to play and how EA does hire in ISB. iske baad they said if you have any questions for us: so I asked ki how would you say ISB campus culture differs from other b school? the older guy said we differ from some and similar to some, name some college, so I mentioned IIMA and uske baad he wanted his younger alum to answer since older ko paas hue time hogaya tha. younger alum told me about 1 year thing, early month grind, no summer internships, and no placement committee saying "I don’t want to bad mouth other colleges but .." style me, uske baad I asked What should I do as a YLP candidate in this period before the mba? should I focus on a skill set or what? uspe answers aaye and then I asked lastly ki do students get research collab opportunities with professors in ISB, toh uspe answer and credit system etc sunke they said 1-2 more thing, and then okay nice for taking out the time to meet dono side ne ek dusre ko thankyou thankyou bolkar bye bye, bahar kar makeshift reception bedroom me feedback form and left.

I so hoped mujhse Why ISB? Why MBA? puchhte ya atleast introduce yourself but nahi puccha, they did ask me my promotion timelines in Big 4 toh I mentioned specialist/associate, toh bole kab hoga I said soon, so they ask ki if you’re already doing this why not continue? why you’re seeking other options? (basically ek taraf se why ISB) toh I mentioned a project where I’m facing lacunae as a doctor about due diligence for a F200 Pharma company buying someone else, toh I related it to broader aspects I want to learn etc etc
they didn’t ask me a lot of main questions I expected toh unke answer I had to self insert everywhere Bina even pucche connect karke
