Hi Friends,

I have got just the OG main book which I intend to revise 2 times. I dont have time to do / get the Quanti & Verb Review books (which have been released recently & are being sold separately.

What should I do.

I am also doing the Verb section of the OG 10.

For Quant I am preparing from other sources supposed to be tougher than OG.

Please advise. I am feeling a bit nervous because I have seen so much review and stuff about OG10 but not much about OG11.

Thanks

Parag

ps. Sorry that I have posted this mail elsewhere & later found the relevant place here.

Hi All,

I am new to the club. For those of you who have already taken a Kaplan course and bought the OG book (11th edition), I would like to find out if there are any overlapped questions between OG and Kaplan study materials (ie.Kaplan course book, High score CD, and on line quizzes/Q banks).

I have just finished the Kaplan course and am planning to take the real test next month. I am debating if I should focus on OG for the remaining time or redo the difficult questions from the Kaplan materials.

Any suggestions about the study strategies are appreciated.

Hi Parag,

Thanks for your feedback. But I don't think that my questions are fully answered. Did you take a Kaplan class and compare the questions in the Kaplan materials (see earlier post) to the OG?

I'll post this question to somewhere else as well to get more responses...thanks again for your quick reponse!!

I dunno about the Kaplan Course vis-a-vis OG 11. GMATPrep vs PowerPrep is all that I could help you with.

Would like to know how the OG11 compares with the Kaplan course though.

Ciao

is ther an overlap between quyestions in the 10th edition and the 11th edition? if u have the 10th is it worth itbuying the 11th??

The answer is "Yes, there is an overlap." However, I don't know about the worthiness.

The Princeton Review says, "The 11th Edition of The Official Guide for GMAT Review will debut this summer. The 800 questions in the Guide are retired GMAT questions, most of which have not appeared in previous editions."

Also it says, "GMAC will also be releasing two supplemental texts - The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review and The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review. Each guide will have about 300 questions. The questions in the supplements differ from those in the 11th Edition, though all can be found in the 10th Edition."

If anyone bought these books already, please share your thoughts regarding those statements.

Where there theories in the verbal review such as grammar reviews, in the CR such as how to attack CR questions and RC such as how to answer and what are the question types?

Just a thought...

Does anyone knows whether OG 11 is created by ETS or Pearson?

Personally, I target to take GMAT in Jan06, so I like to be expose to the format by Pearson.
If both OG 11 is like OG 10 are created by ETS, then perhaps, it ain't so "Official guide" after all?

Anyone can shed some light on this question??

I would recommend the 11th edition. Explanations are much better and so is the layout. For example, in the old edition the answers are embedded in the solution explanations. Whereas in the new edition, at the end of each section you have a summary page with all the answers (much less cumbersome when checking your answers).

The only reason I would recommend buying the OG10, is that it contains more problems. For the new edition, GMAC decided to provide more depth in there explanations and subsequently reduced the number of problems. However, they now offer two additional workbooks which contain all the questions from the OG10 which are not included in the OG11.

IF you don't care about the explanations and are primarily interested in the problems, then get OG10. Otherwise get the OG11 with the Quant. and Verbal workbooks.

Hey people, I live in kuwait and when I try to buy the OG 10th edition from amazon.com (because the books are being sold by people who already own them - second hand books), it can't be shipped to kuwait. I've already bought the OG 11th edition but want to get the 10th edition as well so that I can practice with more questions. Does anyone have any suggestion from which other source I can buy this book from?

Thanks and will highly appreciate it.
