Tips from Donna on the use of social media



Let me say a few things I think people can be doing now while waiting on R2 results... to be prepared...First- do an audit of your social media- Linked In profile should have 500+ connections, praise from workers, endorsements

And also make sure no facebook or instagram posts are inappropriate...

Your linked in profile should have a professional photo, and you should seek endorsements from colleagues


Q: What was the most common reason that people were able to be admitted from the waitlist in your experience?

A: There are a few key things in the mind of adcom for waitlist. 1) they want to know you will COME if offered admission. So make sure you tell them your interest. 2) be proactive but not annoying... fine line but very important

The other thing about waitlist that you can’t control is that it may be the school realizes it needs more of "something"- women, underrepresented minorites.. and you can’t control this- but sometimes they will pick off the waitlist to plug holes in the class.

But what you can control is making sure the school knows that this is a school you’d jump at if offered admission... Schools are judged by their admit rate- so if they offer you admission from the wait list and you say no... you hurt the schools acceptance rate- so it helps for the school to KNOW you will come if admitted.
