B. table, but she refused to do that - If that = table Incorrect
C. tables, but she refused to do so. This is tough to eliminate but I rejected thinking that "the" before the underlined portion intends to talk about a specific table.
D. tables, but she refused to do it - Again it for tables looks incorrect.
E. table, but she refused to do so - I think the use of "the" before table intends to talk about a specific table. so use of "table" is preferable to "tables"
