Let money spent be X.
1600-X=X-800
X = 1200
So money left is 1600 - 1200 = 400 B

let the money spent be x
money he is left with after spending = x-800
total money --> x+(x-800) = 1600
solving for x will give x = 1200,
therefore the money he is left with = x-800
= 1200 - 800
= 400
option B

at the beginning of the trip , John had $1600
let x be the money he spent
as per the question x+x-800=1600
x= $1200
john still has $1600-$1200 = $400

Suppose total money spent = x

Not spend (Money he still has)= x-800

x+x-800 = 1600
x= 1200

Money not spend= 1200-800= 400 B is the answer
