I just gave the gmatprep1 and scored a 700(Q48 v38). i'm appearing for gmat on 21st october. so that gives me around a month of preparation. this was the first CAT i took after completing the OG and manhattan guides. so i still have the 6 mgmat cats for practice.
i made silly mistakes in quant which i guess were due to lack of practice. i wanted to ask, is it possible to increase my score by 40-50 points in this one month or is it too big a target that i'm setting for myself?

Well... it depends.
Most of your improvement will have to come from Verbal as your Quant is at 48 - perhaps you can pull it up to 50 but that's about it (sorry if I am pessimistic about 50 or 51 - that's really tough). So, your goal of 750 will have to be fueled by verbal and you will need V40 if you get Q50 or V42 if you get Q49 - not easy to get up there.... (gmat-scores-83890.html)
So it really depends on your V performance - can you do it?

was just analyzing my test....most of the mistakes i'm making are in sentence correction. i guess improving in SC is easier than improving in the other two areas(atleast that's what i'm hoping). so i guess there are chances of improving in verbal.
also i saw that i made 4 mistakes in the first ten questions and then 6 in the remaining 31. can the poor performance in the first 10 questions be a reason for the low verbal score?

and it is not easy to tell what it could have been. I would not be looking into those things too much - you have to focus on each question and worry about 1 question at a time. The algorithm works either way and will score you fairly (you may want to see this thread:
