Hi,
I got accepted to both, with 50% scholarship from IU and full scholarship from BU.
I plan to go into consulting or management in NYC or DC post-graduation, then transition into corporate senior management (CFO, VP of Finance).
I also want some CSR/sustainability mixed in there, which BU has a specific program for (Social Impact).

I know that Kelley places a few people at MBB but I don't know how many actually get in.
My GMAT is 700+ so that won't be a problem when I apply.
I don't think BU places any at MBB, but the Big 4 are major employers at both.

Kelley is higher ranked and more renowned, but even after the cheaper cost of living, I don't know if it's worth paying the $50k vs. $0 over the two years.
Also the contrast of college town vs. big city, midwest vs. northeast - would that make a big difference in finding a job in NYC?

I was also considering applying to Emory, USC, UNC and Cargenie Mellon before I got my results - should I still apply in R2?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thank you!

First of all, congrats for your admit

Second, I will start from the end, I advise you to apply to those schools you mentioned as they are higher than Kelley in terms of people who join the consulting field. Your GMAT 700+ is an asset to any, especially if above 720. Take into consideration that Cargenie is a STEM now.

If no other option, I would take Kelley's route. The consulting academy is a real help. Also, Kelley send handful students to McK but they feed second tier firms such as Accenture and Deloitte, according to a consulting academy director years ago to me. It is better than Questrom by far. But I do not think that Kelley could help in your long term goals but I do think that your work will make the difference in this transition as, after years of experience, the MBA name will fade away when you move in your life. It won't have the same vibe as you graduate from school.

Just apply to Carnegie Tepper for R2. It is now a stem mba, helping you to stay and look for a job in US after graduation.

Kelly has better placement in management consulting than Questrom does. But if I were you, I would choose Questrom, because of the full scholarship, while waiting results of R2 for Tepper stem mba.

Good luck

Congratulations on your admits! Kelley is Top 20! That’s awesome.

I think you can improve your situation in round two And potential he get either and meaningfully bettering to school or a bigger scholarship in a similarly ranked school to Kelley. Would you consider going to a top 10 without a scholarship?

Currently the financial ROI is probably hanging in the balance between ranking and scholarship. I’m not sure about your background and if it’s financially feasible to pay tuition and how large of an amount $50,000 is for you. If it’s an enormous sum, I would choose the full scholarship offer
