Venky,

In IBT you do not get a score range on the same day of the test. I took it in Dec . You will get the complete score including writing only after 2 weeks of taking the test . you will need to wait for 2 weeks after the exam to submit the score or you can check if you have an option of taking CBT instead ....

You get a score range. For eg, when I took the test (CBT) I got a range score of about 250 - 297. Then when the essays were corrected, I got the actual score of 290 (2 weeks later).

Since the writing score is not actually a "stand alone" score, but rather a part of the reading/writing score it's not exactly the same as GMAT. Make sure you do great and your range will indicate you are almost certain to pass the minimum mark. Less than 3 in the essays is disastrous, so they would assume that if your range is quite close to the minimum you should be fine.

i am taking the iBT. would there be any difference

As far as I know, the iBT is on a different scale and includes another section (speaking?). Check their site for info.

When Did u take the CBT The reason I am Interested is that you get the scores imediately (at least the range) but that doesnt seem to be the case with iBT

Here is what I got from Online

After September 30, 2006, the computer-based version of the TOEFL® test will no longer be offered. The TOEFL program is phasing in the Internet-based version of the TOEFL test - TOEFL iBT. In areas where TOEFL iBT is not yet available, the paper-based version of the TOEFL test will be offered to continue to provide access for TOEFL test takers in these areas.

Boo Hoo :((

Thanks. what I meant was even though the date had expired on sep 30 2006 there wcould be many locations where iBT has not be implemented and candidates have to take up CBT even now. If thats the case then I can give the cbt :)

Seconding what world464 said - you don't get *any* score on test day, and have to wait (as specified) until it is avaiable (at least on the website). In my experience, the results appeared a day *after* ETS's own deadline.
