Hi. Congratulations on your admits.
This is an interesting trade-off and I can tell you that the trade-off has been done on GMAT Club for at least 10 years now and each one of them is different also every person who’s made a choice feels that their choice was right so don’t feel bad about making it one way or another.
First of all, Kellogg is really strong when it comes to product management. That would be your choice if there was no money involved not just because of the ranking but because your classmates will be higher caliber, your network will be bigger and a lot more alumni tech companies. However, you still have to look for a job on or off-campus with your own wits and talents and you will compete versus other equally qualified students. So you get a license to hunt. no guarantees. As I have been hearing from current Kellogg students, tech recruiting and consulting are struggling and being very cautious. At the same time, this is when investing in a better network and in stronger alumni makes sense
Darran is great and I feel the Darden community beats many other schools except Tuck of course in terms of how close knit it is because you are in the middle of nowhere and because of the annoying case method. The case method will really push you to the limit and force you to participate in all of the classes which is fantastic For your personal development and building your presentation and speaking skills which will help you in recruiting. At the same time it’ll eat up so much of your time that you could invest into recruiting
I would say this comes down to how much are you planning to use our network in technology and how Berish are you about borrowing money. Also are you OK with case method is another question
I think when I was applying, I would’ve picked Kellogg because it was very bullish and I was wanting to maximize my opportunities and personal development. I think today I would probably pick Darden because of the better cost equation and closer community.
In terms of paying deposit and then walking out on it, totally fine and no issues at all. There’s no repercussions, no -ones at least 😇
