I have yet to hear anything from Kellogg. I only had my R1 interview about 2 1/2 weeks ago, so I guess I'll have to wait awhile longer.

Dang... thats late!

I'm pretty sure I'm a waitlist or ding at this point - I submitted my app early and interviewed very early. I can't really believe they havent gotten to my app yet (I suppose its possible, but seems unlikely).

It was late because I submitted both parts of my application right before the final deadline.

I'm not really sure what to think about my chances. I was almost positive I'd get in to Chicago GSB, only to end up on the Waitlist there. So who knows what will happen with Kellogg.

Don't scoff at a waitlist at the #1 ranked school in the country... it's impressive any way you cut it.

Have you developed a strategy to get off the waitlist? If not, you should.

I don't know what to do about the Chicago Waitlist. I showed my essays to a friend who graduated from the GSB in 2004 and he didn't see any problems with them.

My GMAT, GPA, and work experience are good and it's too late to add extracurriculars right now. So I'm not sure what I can do.

There's plenty to do.

Generally speaking I'd say - reach out to alumni in your city, ask to talk to them. Get their advice. Try and meet for coffee if they are willing. Bond as much as you can. Do this with more than one person. Try and establish a connection that lasts for a few weeks. Open a dialogue. Then, ask them if they might be willing to "unofficially" (in that its not a rec letter) support your candidacy with a call to the admissions office or a quick letter.

In your case - You have a friend who graduated in 2004, assuming this is a friend - and not a relative - reach out to him. At this point, you have little to lose. A supported application from within the GSB will differentiate your app.

Maybe reach out to a few clubs, ask a few questions, try and connect with some current students. Find out as much as you can about the GSB and put together some well thought out ideas into a letter?

No. They've been accepting and denying candidates for weeks. If you look at 2008 data on admissions411, it suggests that (mostly) waitlists and dings tend to come out on the decision date, though there are some admits as well.

In other words, things aren't looking rosy for me and you venky.

The people who applied to Kellogg during R1 are supposed to find out whether they were accepted by January 8th.

I have not yet heard anything myself and was wondering how the people who already whether they got in or were rejected found out. Did they receive letters or emails informing them of their status?

For DINGS - They received e-mails.

For ADMITS - Usually a call from AdComm.

Both cases had an e-mail as well as a change in the online application status.

I have heard that Kellogg values do-gooder extra-curricular activities as much as any top school. I've got pretty good extra activities but ultimately I dropped them from my list because I'm not strong in an area that they favor.

Anyone here have noteworthy extras that will get them into Kellogg?
