You may want to clear this up pre kroll via an email to adcoms. I doubt it would come up as it was a former employer but they may call over there...u never know

Josie. Why did you put a diff date? If its a mistake no biggie but they will want to clarify either way. If it was a way to cover a gap, who knows what a scool may do. I've seen schools recind offers bc of this.

honestly, i was too lazy and did not check my W2s to be exact. it is not a way to cover a gap. just the ending date of job 1 was pushed back and the starting date of job 2 was pushed up.

I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) weren't sure about their exact start and end dates. Being off by a month sounds pretty reasonable to me. I think its totally fine to just say, in case you even get asked about it, that you simply forgot to double check and put down what you could remember at the time.

Sure, I don't see any harm in informing them. If its a first job out of college though, I strongly doubt they'll check that far back. Word on the street is that CBS only checks our current employer (let us know if thats actually true). But better to cover all your bases just in case (especially if you have your w-2 and can site exact dates) :)

I think they normally check your last two jobs. That being said though, if they do check it might be a problem so a heads up might be in order.

i actually checked my w2s and could not find the dates on there.....I think I may actually have to call HR from my old company to find out exactly when I started, it was in 2007 so I really can't recall.

is that what all of you guys did instead of estimating when you applied??

What does Kroll actually say when they call up an employer/recommender?

Do they state which school they are performing the check on behalf of?
Do they state why they are performing the check(i.e. for full time admission into school xxx)?

I am in the process of getting my background checked by Kroll and asked them this very question.

They do NOT give ANY of that information. They say that they are a third party verifier...something along those lines. They do NOT mention your school nor do they mention WHY they are calling.

If your HR says anything, you can always say that you are applying for housing or getting government paperwork verified or something...its pretty standard practice in a lot of other aspects of life.

agree. I did the same thing, HR didn't ask me anything. My Kroll is now complete as I did not want to wait til last second.

Who did they contact. How far did they go back on your resume?

It depends on the school.

For Columbia, they only check your current employer (and its obviously they do because that is the only employment you need to double check/submit to Kroll).

O ok. How much was the fee for your Kroll check? Only asking because I want to compare to the fee I have to pay

Do they check extracurricular activities? I have an activity I was previously very active with and now not as much so for the monthly hours I averaged my total time since at the time I thought that would be fair.

depends on your school. For Columbia, they did not. I highly doubt most schools do.

Hello I have a few questions,

If I am an international students and the people in my HR department do not speak english very well what happens? Does Kroll have employees that speak several languages? And also is this for all students or only randomely selected students?
