Hi all ,
Thank you for this amazing platform where I can share my emotions , struggles and knowledge with everyone and I feel so good upon receiving/hearing the same from others .
Currently there are some things that have been bothering me and I need some direction . Although I have been directing myself but I think its always to good to hear some first hand experiences to make sure I am on right track.
I want to score 750+ and its been almost 7 months on and off prep . My first attempt was on 23rd Sept 2019 and it made me realise I need to work a lot .
My second attempt is on 27th Jan 2020 and this time I want to make sure I don't do stupid mistakes . I really want to prepare the way a 750+ student prepares . So I want to know if there is any flaw in my plan or do I need to do anything additional because I am not satisfied with my tortoise movements (I have done over 2500 questions but still not where I want to be ).
So far I have done below
1)given mock test gmat prep2 latest score -500 (Q45 , V28)
2)completed
OG 2019 , VERBAL & QUANT REVIEW 2019 (I didn't find
OG difficult Quant review was also good needed some attention)
FOR QUANTS
3)Subscribed to gmat club precious questions for quants and so far after revising every topic I have practiced at least 10 questions (quants ) and I get to learn so much from each question .862 QUANTS questions remaining .(Which I don't know how I am going to cover , is it even necessary to cover all ?)
4)I have revised all topics via
egmat course and need to practice more to cement my learning . I dont have a
error log other than what GMAT CLUB has given . I simply bookmark the questions I faced problem in and I make note of questions which I really feel I missed the trick /logic IN A FAIR notebook for quants which I have planned to revise in last 2 weeks .
FOR VERBAL
5)took e -gmat course and it helped me improve my SC . I am still practicing SC but I am feeling confident I can improve more in this last 1 month . I only practice 10 questions for SC .(which I feel is insufficient to cover all topics in SC because we need to revise and practice each type)
6)For CR I am practicing at least 10 questions per day and helping a data base to help me prethink for all situation based on patterns I face and reasoning behind why the right was right and why what I selected (wrong) was wrong . BaSICALLY checking out logical flow of passage .
7)For RC I practice 4 RC everyday and understand and connect inferences and logical flow of passage . I don't see much struggle here because I know my flaws here . I have been a bit lazy in giving reasoning behind my right ans . I always jump to answers without prethinking and end up getting confused & looking at answers until they all look same . I need to work a lot on this because this ignorance has been eating my scores .
MY FUTURE PLANNING & WORRIES
1) I have planned to give 2 mocks per week and analyse the error . I have official mock 3,4,5,6 &
e-gmat 5 sigma mocks .I need to improve timing I am very slow in quants . I will be giving 1 unofficial and 1 official mock every week to track my timing and performance .
2)On the days I don't give mock I will be doing 20 questions of each topic ( 20 for quants , 20 CR , 20 SC and 4 RC ) all OFFICIAL QUESTIONS ONLY .
3)I have planned to adjust 10 questions of my weak area in quants . other than those 20 generic questions .These questions will be from gmat club and
egmat SCHOLARANIUM .
4)I havent practiced IR & ESSAY so I have no clue when am I going to practice it . I am so busy with this prep that at times I see myself failing the 60 questions target I have assigned to myself . Does IR score matter much If I want to apply in top 10 B schools ?
5)I want to do quality study and hence don't want to refer so many materials the goal is to learn more patterns and get an understanding and help my mind think in QUANTS & VERBAL .
Thank you for reading . Please let me know how & what else can I improve to reach my target score . I want to make sure my efforts and inputs go in right direction .The number of hours based study is not a problem I believe in quality study but don't know suddenly it feels like I have been very slow .I admit I lack practice but I am trying to practice at my pace . Will it not improve things ?
I think GMAT is all about connecting logical thinking and using that knowledge in minimum time to get the results either by eliminating wrong or knowing right .
