Last year price = P;
This year price = 1.4P;

Lucas used a travel voucher to purchase the vacation package at 30% off this year’s price, thus he paid (1 - 0.3)*1.4P = 0.98P.

price = P..
40% increase = 140P/100
30% of on it = $$\frac{140P}{100}*(\frac{100-30}{100})$$ =0.98P

$$p*{ 40 - 30 + \frac{(30)(-40)}{100}} = 0.98p$$, Answer must be (E)

Lucas paid P * 1.4 * 0.7 = 0.98P.
