The following is an exhaustive list of questions asked to candidates with disparate profiles. It gives you an idea of what kind of questions can be asked. This list is collected from the latest interview debriefs.
Below list is from the interviews conducted for 2023 intake and 2022 intake, respectively.
Questions asked during interviews for 2023 Intake:
1. Profile walkthrough(Only work ex) 2. Choose one major project in your life and tell us about your learnings, outcomes etc. 2-3 follow-up questions on the same. 3. The interview started with the generic "Tell me about yourself" Then asked about my work experience and a day at my job. Why isb? Why now? Why product management? Short term goal. Business aspects of my job since I am from a purely technical background. My dream company. Situational questions like..what will you do if u r a PM of Google and u have xyz situation. Calculate weekly revenue of an Indian airline which goes from Bombay to New York. Challenge at work.

Hobbies/Interests: They asked me to talk about one of my hobbies. I'd read this while preparing so I was prepared for this line of questioning. Things like if your fav sport is basketball, you're expected to be able to have a conversation on the topic as well. Players, fouls, trivia etc. 5. Why MBA at this point in my career? 6. Any questions for the panel?

1. Tell us the cultural differences between the first organisation where you worked and the current one and why did you leave in just 6 months. Cross questions on this. 2. Tell us what did you do in the first company. It was about MBA schools’ advertising so they wanted to know the process in detail. Had questions about this. 3. You want to work in FMCG, have you talked to ISB alumni about this? Who all? Anyone beyond ISB? I talked about a project that I’ve been doing with one from IIMC & FMCG. Questions around that. 4. You’ve been involved in so many ad films during your college graduation. It’s a tough industry to go into. How did you enter and Why didn’t you continue there? You studied Advertising, do you want to work in that? Why not? 5. Why Marketing? If anything personal that you’d like to talk about or skip you can. 6. Questions about my hometown and the socio-economic status of that. One of them was from a nearby state. 7. Tell us about your current projects. Why did you move from CRM communications to Go-To-Market? How many people work with you? 8. Had a long discussion about one of my market research trips to Gujarat and how was the experience. They asked in detail about my process of mining insights through qualitative interviews, etc.

Basically what I'd do differently if I was in his shoes 6) Why MBA was next and from there they probed a bit about my goals and the industry I was seeking.

1. They gave me the floor to tell them anything about myself that I want them to know and discuss during the interview 2. Describe your organization (I work for a boutique IB firm, this is probably why the question came up), it's journey, and your role along with daily responsibilities - A complete deep dive into a few companies I've worked with that were mentioned in my application - Expect questions based on even the minutest of details of your job. For eg. I am working on the acquisition of a hospital chain & I was asked questions about the many important hospital metrics 3. Why ISB and why now 4. Tell me about your long-term goals - I mentioned I want to start a venture - we spent a good part of the interview breaking down the idea mentioned in my essay with a lot of cross questioning and stress testing 5. On the contrary, they asked what's your plan, If ISB does not happen. 9. They didn't ask if I had any questions.

a) I was asked to elaborate on one of the instances I had mentioned in the leadership essay. They asked what was my contribution in that scenario. b) Initiatives I have taken at the workplace or any processes that I have put in place at the workplace and the impact of the same. They also asked me to talk about new age ideas/concepts in the investing world (I work in the asset management industry). c) Branching off from the above question, they asked what space do I think would be most attractive/exciting for today's (millennial) investors? d) What is my Plan B (post MBA) if I don't get opportunities in the industry which I had mentioned as my medium term goal (consulting - which is quite competitive) e) An interesting question - If I had to give a speech to my cohort on day1 at the campus, introducing myself, what would the core theme be / what would the title be? f) They said peer learning is immense in those course, with 800-900 people in the class all from very different backgrounds. So the asked what others could learn from me / what do I bring to the table? g) They asked if I had any questions - I asked about duration of internship and outbound exchange opportunities, the course being a 1 year course.

1- The interviewers dug into my current work experience. As I work in a cosmetics startup they went deep into my KPI's, knowledge of the industry, and also knowledge of the pricing and procuring. 2- I was asked about my future goals, which I had mentioned in the application (Automotive). I was asked to talk about that and give an example of how I can add value to it. 3- I was asked to provide a case on what I would change about a specific company wrt their marketing and strategy. A few follow-up questions thereafter. 4- Further, I was asked about my plan B at ISB. 5- Then I was asked about my leadership style. Previous examples of where I showcased this quality while leading a team. 6- Then we spoke a little bit about hobbies and which ones I would like to pursue at ISB. 7- I was asked if I have any questions for the panel.
