Hello,
I am trying to make up my mind regarding B-school selection and would really appreciate your advice on the matter.
A brief about me:
*I'm 28, F from India
*I'm a banker with 3+ years exp (4 by the time I start at business school), have multiple credit certifications.
*Have a bachelor's degree in Dentistry, plus a 20 month WE in that field.
*Speak fluently 3 languages, learning French currently.
*GMAT score is 710. Undergrad is 65% (First class according to my university, also mentioned in the Original Degree), however I'm still stuck at GPA conversion.
*Don't have international experience or any major extracurriculars to help me stand out.
Location : I'm not sure where exactly I want to end up working/living, but preference would be European/Asian countries.
I would like to work at NYC at some point of time, but its not a deal-breaker.
I would like to get back to India after a few years (5-7 years), but I'm very much keen to travel internationally for work purposes.
Career goals : I want to pursue career only in finance (not sure about the exact role here. I'm rooting for IB, CFA lv 1 candidate). Like i said, I want to work at the Wall Street, however briefly.
Queries:
* Cost is a huge factor for me. I have to take unsecured loan for my education as scholarship is not definitive in these cases.
*LBS/INSEAD and Booth (US) are preferred schools. However, from recent conversations with alums and friends, I learned that it's difficult to find jobs suitable to me in European countries (although I'm skeptical, finance is everywhere!). So is this true? And is VISA a hurdle post-MBA? Are finance placements good in Europe?
*I would prefer a one-year MBA due to time and cost, however that's not a deal-breaker.
*INSEAD January intake is attractive in one-year MBA programs. I also like how diverse it is both student-wise and geographically.
It also frightens me a bit that INSEAD is primarily associated with consulting (alums keep repeating this, given their experience, maybe they have a point?)
Evaluating the costs, visa issues, the general post-mba goals I would like to know different opinions. The above schools are just a preference. Other suggestions are welcome.
Thank you very much.
