I'm looking at the LBS curriculum, and I'm not sure I follow how the multiple exit points work.
I understand that the requirements for graduation include completing 10 electives.

Description from LBS
The MBA Programme has 15, 18, and 21-month exit points. These time frames capture the amount of study you are expected to undertake. I.e. if you start in August 2020, you may be permitted to finish your studies in December 2021.

In order to graduate from the programme at one of our Early Exit points, you will need to have met all programme requirements: pass Business Fundamentals, Tailored Core courses and min. 10 Elective courses, and complete experiential programme elements like Leadership Launch and the Global Business Experience.

Please note that, by choosing an Early Exit, you may limit your choice of available Electives. Those going on International Exchange will not be able to exit the programme at 15 months

What does staying till the 21 month exit point afford me? The max electives people can take are 12 so it's not strictly electives (not a big bump from 10). Is it the opportunity to do internships while taking a lower class load?

Hi newdimension, you are right only on the class load! More time = fewer modules / term
Electives are offered at selected times of the year, so you can't take an elective that's only offered in the 18th month if you want to graduate by the 15th month.
Remember these are 12 electives are out of a pool of >50 electives.

Internships are meant to be done after you've finished your 1st year, so it's not affected by when you want to graduate.
You enter Aug 2020, end first year by June 2021, have a summer break, graduate in Dec 2021
You will still have your summer break to do whatever you want/take up entrepreneurship summer school in LBS.
However, should you choose the 21-month option, you can possibly squeeze in a 2nd internship, but that requires proper planning.

Now don't quote me on the following: I heard fees are not different between the exit options, of course excluding the rent that you are saving.
Having said that, I have a groupmate who still wants to graduate early so that she can travel with her boyfriend (who's also in the MBA) for 6 months, before she enters the life-sucking abyss of investment banking.

Hope this helps.
