Background - 33M,Good experience (5Y+) in brand management, product management (non-tech), p&l management and marketing. Looking to move into a top 10 program in 2022. Long term goal is to move into leadership roles (GM/VP/Director) in consumer tech companies (product/marketing) and then grow from there. I am considering 2 paths to reach there :
1. MBA>PM/PMM>Leadership
2. MBA>Consulting>Leadership
Wanted to understand feasibility from the following perspectives:
1. Visa opportunities in consulting/tech
2. PM/PMM for a non-tech person (I'm an Engineer and used to code in UG but haven't since and no WE in tech)
3. Compensation expectations for either routes considering I'll have to take a loan
4. Ease of recruitment for an international student
5. Target schools for consumer tech (guessing most T10 have good consulting opportunities)
6. Would I be able to negotiate a slightly senior role in PM/PMM given my WE?
All inputs are appreciated. Thanks in advance. This will tremendously help me in crystallising my post-MBA goals.

I can tell you that CPG is a challenge but there are a number of marketing positions that are open, depends on the industry you are looking. Refer to the Top 100 employers too https://gmatclub.com/forum/top-100-h1b- ... 43741.html for some ideas as to who is sponsoring.
PM/PPM tend to be tech positions and you can definitely break into it as a non-tech person but you will be expected to embrace the tech. E.g. if you go to Amazono you will be expected to learn the ropes of database and cloud computing and take some training and at Apple or FB you will need to embrace their platforms and know the ins and outs of them as you would in all jobs really to be successful. However, the learning curve may be stepp only in the first 6 months. Then you are done. Tech tends to pay better than consulting by the way.
I would be cognizant of your senior work experience. Bschools don't know how to leverage folks with this much experience well and tend to look at younger applicants. Only 10% of the class or so get into the US Top 10 post 33 but there are other options - that's link #1 above. So not to throw your line of thinking - let me know if you have already considered the age/experience situation.

Thanks a lot for the inputs. Lots of great information that I'll be taking into account. I won't be shying away from learning new technologies, it would be a great opportunity. From the age point of view, I had a serious medical incidence which set me back by 3-4 years (I continued working,but it took me time to recover physically, mentally and financially). Hoping that this would convince adcoms about my employability (along with my WE)
