justincase49, I do not want to sound like an @$$hole but with the profile like this:
730 GMAT
3.9 GPA from top Russian university
7 years w.e. in Supply Chain Management incl. 1 y. Intl. experience
I was not able to get in either of the four schools I applied to this year: Chicago, Wharton, Kellogg, Tuck. OK, technically I am still on the WL @ Wharton, but the chances of getting off it are almost non-existent.
As for the essays... well, Rhyme read them and said they were good.

My point is, an excellent profile is not enough by far to secure a place in a UE.

I actually really liked your essays. I thought they were clean, concise and to the point, effective, well reasoned and believable while also being interesting and fun. In fact, there is one I still remember vividly now. Of all the waitlist folks, yours is the one I find most baffling.

Moreover, I thought your profile was interesting and reasonably unique - strong GPA, strong above average GMAT, international experience and background but grounded in solid work experience as well.

I'm still here rooting for you, and as always, if theres anything I can do, just ask.

justincase49, my extracurriculars are not brilliant (no wow-factors), that is true, but I am not a one-dimensional person either. In fact, during the feedback session from Tuck, a lack of extracurs has not been quoted as a point of concern for the AdCom. Also I have a proven leadership experience at work.

rhyme, thanks, man!

aaudetat, you know where that came from :-D

I agree, impossible is nothing. And if you're going to do something, do it with PASSION!

Helg- I'm wondering if your demographic is especially competitive. I have two current friends who are both Russian (moved here in about elementary school) and they're both going to Harvard. They have Russian friends at other top schools as well. Do you know if this is an especially competitive group?

No, I wouldn't say that it is an especially competitive pool. I am more inclined to say that in most b-school being a Russian, especially with the international experience, still helps to stand out of the crowd. I would say that the Russians are still underrepresented in b-schools as compared to people from other BRIC countries.

Don't know why I'm saying this as it does not allow to blame my failure on "super tough demograpics"... :)

Maybe your excuse can be that Aleksey Vayner has ruined the reputation of your demographic!

Yeah, I'll be around ;)
Well, still I hope your GSB WL will work out to the best!
At the moment I plan to re-apply to GSB, Wharton and Tuck. Not to Kellogg, I got the feeling the school is not for me 8-) Come Fall, we'll see, maybe I will through in a couple of fresh apps (Harvard? Stanford?  )[/quote]

I hope you get into Wharton this year. And I hope I get into Chicago.
