Letters of Support - Guidance, and which schools accept?

Hi all,

MIT sloan is my #1, and I have 2 alumni/current managers to write me letters of support. (Letters outside of my 2 recommenders)

I'm also applying to other schools:

1) HBS
2) Wharton
3) GSB
4) Kellogg

Do these schools accept letters of support? I can't find this on their websites. I've read mixed reviews online.
My recommenders are great, and set-in stone. Just wondering how to approach this. Lots of other people online have said they send them in, while some have said they don't...what do y'all think?

Any admissions folks here to chime in?

We do accept letters of support from alums or current students. They can be emailed to [email protected] and we will attach them to your application as supplemental information. We would not recommend using them as your official recommenders unless they can speak to you from a professional perspective as well (i.e. your direct supervisor also is an MIT Sloan alum)."

Hey peterag ,

Most of the schools, in fact all you mentioned, ask for one or two Letter of Recommendations in the online form. Once you start filling the application, you will find an option to add email IDs and basic details of your recommendators. Once you do that, they will receive an email asking them to login and add your recommendation. every school has a set of 4-6 questions that need to answered by the recommendators.

Please note that this is a mandatory and a very important component of your application.

I'm afraid I wasn't very clear in my original post. I was wondering on the common practice for letters of support, not the required letters of recommendation.

Hey peterag , The answer to your question is YES. Current students/alums can always send an email to the adcoms supporting your candidacy. I don't think school won't like this. Obviously, if someone from their own community is supporting you, it might go in your favor. All the best
