Hi All.
Generally speaking, is living in an apartment complex with other MBAs beneficial to the b-school experience? Obviously schools like Tuck and HBS have a residential component, but what about other programs where students are scattered around?
Any current student or alumni perspective is appreciated.

It's beneficial in the sense that you will have someone to hang out with in the first few weeks of the orientation (especially if you are in the big program).
But after your orientation, it really doesn't matter because you will have plenty of opportunities to meet your classmates. A lot of people usually hang out with the members in their section or study group. But whether you live in the same building with many of your new classmates or not, it really isn't a big issue. (unless you find an awesome classmate who lets you stop by his/her apt and allows you to steal their beer or something....now that's a friend you keep for life)
It may also be helpful to live with other classmates in the same building if you are married, have kids or own pets.

It can be nice to have other people in the same place for impromptu parties, when you get locked out at 3am, etc. That said it certainly isn't necessary.
