Dear Gmat club members! I’d like to share with you the debrief about my GMAT journey

About myself. I am Russian female, 28 years, GPA 3.99. Worked after graduation at Ernst and Young, audit department for 5.5 years. After, moved to Russian steel-pipes manufacturer (top 3 worldwide), headed Economic analysis department. Targeted at INSEAD, whish to become a consultant at McKinsey.
My GMAT journey started last March, so it took me 1 year and 1 month to reach the point. I was able to study mainly at weekends (abt. 6 hours a day) and sometimes at evenings (no more than 1-2 hours). For the first 2-3 months of my study I wasn’t aware of ManhattenGMAT and used miscellaneous sources from the internet. I also didn’t avoid a trap of diving into 700+ questions on this forum before learning basics

After first months my approach became more traditional: I switched to Manhattan, Veritas, Kaplan, Princeton, etc. (well, yes, I really have an enormous number of these books and I’ve read almost all of them). I found Manhattan (all books) and CR bible very useful, gold standard. Also gmat club math tests are superb, especially the hardest ones. In addition, I strongly recommend Tuesdays with Ron sessions by
MGMAT. I would not recommend Veritas, Kaplan and Princeton – value/time ratio of these book is quite low.
Before my first attempt, my diagnostics varied from 690 to 770 (
MGMAT) and from 700 to 750 (GMATprep). After my first attempt (690 Q49, V34) on Jan’12 I subscribed to e-gmat and groockit, all of which I found really useful to boost my verbal score. For the last three months before my second attempt I started to read at least one article from Scientific American a day, which tremendously helped me in RC, and, know what, now I’m a real fan of this journal!) I also bought their book about love, which they published by St. Valentain’s day and found it amazing)
I didn't do any diagnostic tests before my second GMAT attempt, which occurred today, on 3th of April. I scored 740 (Q50, V41). During the exam, I wasn’t sure about anything, only little portion of questions seemed obvious to me. In fact, I felt that I wasn’t well prepared. I haven’t seen any probability question. I also haven’t came across any boldface passages, two peoples speaking with each other. However, I saw pretty much (about 3 or 4) questions, that asked to complete a paragraph. I was very surprised to see my scored, I felt like angles sang to me!)
I really want to thank gmat club members for their stories of success, which inspired me so much during my long-long preparation! Believe in yourself, GMAT is manageable and doable, even if it takes pretty much time for preparation!
