In the below sentence, the word "Looking" is said to be an adjective and not a verb. Could you kindly provide an explanation for the same?
Sentence: "Looking at the baby‘s picture, she said that she also wanted a baby"

Looking is not a verb in the above sentence because 'looking' isn't preceded by 'be' form of verb eg. is/am/are. Be’ forms are used as Main Verbs and as auxiliary/helping verbs. As a helping verb ‘Be’ form is used to form present continuous tense, past continuous tense and the future continuous tense. It is also used as a helping verb to form passive voice. 'Looking' used in the above sentence is a present participle.
