Generally I tend to make same amount of mistakes in both RC and CR. In the exam I seemed to be more confident in CR than RC but surprisingly I fared much better in RC than CR. However, my question is about my sectional percentiles being so low inspite of less number of mistakes. Do you mean to say that although many of my answers were correct, it could be the case, that I did all the experimental ones correct which were not contributing to the score?

Also, can you help me decipher DI?

Yes, that's what I was getting at. It's possible that more of your mistakes in the verbal section were on the real questions.

I'm a verbal expert, so you may want to tag other experts on this. However, I do know a little bit about the other sections (and I've taken the new GMAT), so I may be able to help you if you have a specific question about your DI.

Thanks for the help.
1) Could it also be that I was not able to do the hard questions correct in Verbal which led to a low percentile? (Although, that still might not explain for RC individual percentile)
2) What percentile can I hope with 15/20 questions right (considering I get Experimental's wrong the next time around) because even if I give a reattempt I am not sure if I will be able to beat that as Verbal has been an issue for me?

1. Yes, that's always a possibility in question-adaptive tests like the GMAT. And that's why the new ESR is in some ways worse than the old one. The old one gave us some idea about question difficulty, and it also excluded experimental questions. The new one doesn't exclude experimental questions, and it has no information about question difficulty.

2. Good question, but as I mentioned earlier, it's very hard to link accuracy to score, especially on the new GMAT. :)

Hey manrasingh

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here! I have a similar experience and want to share mine to get more insights.
#Scores attached in the image

Quant - Questions were easy, little tricky with words compared to straight forward questions we regularly practice. For me last question was very tough. It was algebra, quite verbose and tricky in my opinion, even while reading the question, I felt it was a sure shot 805+ question.

Data Insights - I did not expect to go wrong on such a streak, it was a surprise for me! Time consuming section as always!

Verbal - 2 Wrong with CR and 3 Wrong with RC.

I changed one question each in Verbal and DI, but unfortunately from Incorrect to Incorrect. Does it also effect the scoring? I would like to know more thoughts from experts.

bb Bunuel MartyMurray @b_sudharsan KarishmaB AjiteshArun Any ways or suggestions how can I improve DIs, I feel there's a good score to improve and push the score a little further.

Would love to hear your opinions and experiences!

Thank you!

Hi sherlocked221B,

We can't be sure about this, but changing an answer from incorrect to incorrect most likely won't affect your score.

As for DI, you could try to check for any issues related to question type and time. For example, are you making more mistakes in DS or the IR-type questions, and are you able to finish the section, or do you have to rush/guess?
