Low score on first mock after completing OG. Suggest Next steps.

Question

Hello all,

I took my first mock today from GMAT Official Site after completing official guide and Magoosh questions. I scored 570 with Q47 and V22.

Verbal: My speed on verbal is very low and I could complete only 20 questions within the given time frame. 6 went wrong of 20. When I practiced OG my accuracy was ok with SC and CR. RC is the biggest pain point. The verbal section in the exam started with a passage, I answered all the questions of the passage correctly but it costed a lot of time.

Quant: I completed all the questions with 12 minutes left and 4 silly mistakes which can be avoided. Overall not much worried about Quant.

My target score is 720 and I plan to take the exam mid-September. What should I focus on now? Which books should I refer to? Should I buy Advanced OGs?

Since You are already Done with OG and are not expecting any difficulty in Quant section. I don't really think you will be needing more assistance with that, but if you still want to practice Quant, Official Advance GMAT book is surely helpful or you can consider TTP. Both are good for advance level practice. For Verbal RC i think you need to go through RC Section again and spend more time on RC. MANHATTAN RC and PowerScore RC both are good books to prepare for RC.

Try to get better accuracy. Once you have maxed out the material you can practice from Lsat for RC(Get your game strong they have got tough and lengthy RC) For CR powerscore is the bible. Search on google for powerscore you shall find a link to online pdf. For SC follow GMATNinja Use Official Material as much as you can. Follow people like souvik101990 Bunuel (Our Quants Wizard more like GOD)

Q47 is a great score to start with. identifying the gaps in understanding will help you improve to Q49/50.

The concern seems to be the Verbal part. I was at your stage a few months ago. I scored a 570 in my first official test. I scored a Q44 and  V25 . I was looking for a 100 point improvement. That's when I got to know about GMATWhiz and started studying the course. I found it very helpful and I scored a 680. My  Verbal score improved to 38 .
