Ans: D

three consecutive odd int of which t is minimum= t, t+2, t+4
so M= t+t+2+t+4 = 3t+6 ; so t= (M-6)/3

Now we need to find t+ t-2+t-4 = 3t -6
= 3(M-6)/2 -6 = M-6-6 = M-12Ans: D

We can also do this by putting values:
lets say t = 7 so M= 7+9+11 = 27
now 7+5+3 = 15 which is 27-12 = so M-12 is the ans.

M is the sum of three consecutive odd integers, the least of which is t. In terms of M, which of the following is the sum of three consecutive odd integers, the greatest of which is t ?

A) \(M + 12\)

B) \(M + 6\)

C) \(M - 6\)

D) \(M - 12\)

E) \(\frac{M}{2}\)

hey there :-)
what did you in highlighted part :?
thank you :-)

Plug in some numbers and check

Scene I

Let the 3 numbers be 5,7 &9 (Where t = 5)

SO, M = 21

Scene II

Let the 3 numbers be 1 , 3 & 5

SO, M = 9

Now, check ANswer must be 21 - 12 = 9, So, ANswer must be (D)

HI Bunuel

Seems like this question is discussed in the below link :-)

three consecutive odd int of which t is minimum= t, t+2, t+4
so M= t+t+2+t+4 = 3t+6 ; so t= (M-6)/3

Now we need to find t+ t-2+t-4 = 3t -6
= [3*(M-6)]/3 -6 = M-6-6 = M-12
Ans: D

I have a doubt regarding the solution to this question:

I understood the below part:

three consecutive odd int of which t is minimum= t, t+2, t+4
so M= t+t+2+t+4 = 3t+6 ; so t= (M-6)/3

Now we need to find t+ t-2+t-4 = 3t -6

But from here on, how did we arrive at the below equation?

= 3(M-6)/2 -6 = M-6-6 = M-12Ans: D

Can somebody please explain this?
