I like the solution - it’s helpful. So we can even solve it using matrix appraoch , R T D - fill in the values just solve like normal equations

Bunuel when we say "at an average (arithmetic mean) speed 10 miles per hour slower than on the first day"
since it says arithmetic mean doesn't this mean s=(s1+s2)/2
if it said just avg speed then it would be s=(d1+d2/t1+t2)
so, s2=s-10????

Here, “average speed on a day” means distance traveled that day divided by time traveled that day. It does not mean the arithmetic mean of the two days’ speeds. So if the second-day speed is s2, then the first-day speed is s2 + 10. The overall average speed for both days is total distance/total time, not (s1 + s2)/2, because the two travel times are different.
