Official Solution:

Which of the following does NOT equal 25.25?

A. $$25\frac{1}{4}$$
B. $$0.2525*10^2$$
C. $$25+0.25$$
D. $$\frac{104}{4}$$
E. $$\frac{2,525}{100}$$

We’ll go for ALTERNATIVE because the question asks us to examine the answers.

(A) As we know: $$25\frac{1}{4}=25+\frac{1}{4}$$, and $$\frac{1}{4}=0.25$$. Therefore $$25\frac{1}{4}=25+0.25$$, which equals 25.25. Not the correct answer.

(B) Move the decimal point 2 spaces to the right, so it becomes 25.25. No!

(C) This is similar to (A). No!

(D) $$\frac{104}{4}=\frac{100}{4}+\frac{4}{4}=25+1=26$$. Not 25.25! We can stop looking – that’s our answer.

It's not 2.525 (2 point 525), it's 2,525 (two thousand, five hundred twenty-five)
