Hi

I have got an idea on e-GMAT and mogoosh as I used them both, but I didn't use gmatwhiz. The video length of eGMAT is also long, so magoosh should be a better option in consideration of duration and contents.

Thanks
In terms of course quality and level of questions, were both providers same or was there any difference

Hi

I think they are pretty close, but magoosh is a bit better option. Mic is a much better mentor, and he presents all the concepts in a good timeframe, so if you want to use time in an efficient manner, go for magoosh.

Hi muggergammy,

Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so if you've been studying for just 1 month, then you still need to put in the necessary time and effort to learn all of the content and Tactics needed to hit your Goal Score. In two separate posts, you listed your Score Goal as 730 or 710 - but with either Goal, you will have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Your 3 CAT Scores are similar-enough to one another that they imply that you may have gotten 'stuck' at this particular score level (in the high-500s); by extension, you may have developed some 'bad habits' over this last month that are keeping you from scoring higher. In addition, your self-assessment for your Quant performances is incomplete (meaning that you will need to work on more than just those few rare subject areas to hit your Goal Score).

When it comes to studying for the GMAT, there are lots of different resources that you may choose to use. If you're going to limit your options down to just 2 choices, then you will be limited in terms of the pricing options and 'timeframes' that are built-in to those choices. Most GMAT Companies offer some type of free materials (practice problems, Trial Accounts, videos, etc.) that you can use to 'test out' a product before you buy it. We have a variety of those resources at our website (www.empowergmat.com). I suggest that you take advantage of all of them, then choose the one that best matches your personality, timeline and budget. Statistically-speaking, raising a high-500s score to the point that you can consistently score 710-730 will likely require that you commit to at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level. With a planned mid-April Test Date, you have given yourself plenty of additional study time, but you will have to be efficient with your studies going forward.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Are you planning to take the At-home GMAT or are you planning to take your GMAT at a Test Facility?
2) Which version of the OG book(s) do you currently have?
3) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hello Everyone,

I started my GMAT prep last week of November (4hrs/day), in this duration I gave 3 mock tests; the first one at the beginning without any prep from mba.com (Q44,v23), the second was a free mock of veritas prep(Q45,v22), and the third from manhattan free mock (Q47,v27). After a thorough analysis of all 3 exams, I concluded that in Quant I am lagging only in 2-3 topics such as probability, pnc, and statistics while in Verbal my major area of focus was RC and SC. I think I can improve my quant with a little bit of practice and clearing the concepts, but verbal needs a miracle.

Before giving my last mock, I studied SC from Manhattan SC Edition 6 book, while CR was prepared by practicing a few questions from OG. My overall accuracy in CR was around 80% where I was making mistakes in inference, assumption-based questions, hypothesis, and paradox based questions. I think with additional practice I can manage CR. I have a fair understanding of how to approach RC based questions while also I am familiar with few rules of SC such as modifiers and subject-verb agreement, but when it comes to solving the questions I struggle in these areas:
1. RC: Unable to comprehend the entire passage due to which I am unable to understand the central idea and tone of the passage.
2. SC: I am able to understand the rules when I read the theory in the book, but I am unable to apply it on questions as I get confused, also sometimes it becomes extremely difficult for me to identify the subject and verb of the scentences.

I have finalized to purchase one of the online course available either from Magoosh or GMATWHIZ (Quant+Verbal), however, both are equally good, only thing I noticed that the video length of GMATWHIZ was really long making the entire course duration to be ~6 Months while Magoosh can be covered in 3 Months.

If anyone has tried both the courses, can anyone suggest to me which would be ideal for purchases? My main focus area is Verbal while I am also taking Quant for general practice as the only source of questions with me are from OG and Quant/Verbal Review. Also from the two-course providers which one is having its question difficulties closed to GMAT.

I am planning to give GMAT in mid-April 2021.

Thank you for your valuable feedback.

Hi muggergammy,

I personally used GMATWhiz and found it good for all the modules. The questions they provided were standard and the solutions were also good. It helped me improve my score from 570 to 720.

I didn't use Magoosh but there were a few people who reached out to me saying that they have used Magoosh but could not improve their score considerably. They said that it was not very great with the methods and strategies.

I think it would be better if you checked the free trial of both the courses, talked to the people of respective courses and then decide. All the best :)

Does GMATWHIZ include practice tests in their package, if yes what is the difficulty and accuracy level when compared with actual GMAT

I'm not sure what you mean by practice tests. They have good number of questions using which you can take sectional quizzes of quant and Verbal. But if you are referring to mocks, they don't have. And if you ask me, I would suggest you to stick with the official mocks because I found them to be the best ones.

And as you are looking to improve your score, look for a course which provides you with the best content, not mocks.
