I hear many great things about the Manhattan GMAT, especially the Sentence Correction guide. Are the math guides just as good? Do you think the SC guide is a MUST-HAVE?

I definitely think the SC guide is a must have - especially if you're having any trouble with that section. It breaks things down perfectly!

I bought two books from Manhattan GMAT and found them pretty useful. They are - Maths-Words translation
and - SC Strategy guide

I only bought these two because I saw a lot of compliments from this web. However, since the two I bought are pretty well-written and helpful to me, I am starting to feel pity that I didn't buy the rest. I wonder how good the Number Property and Inequalities books are. Anyone who have them please share your idea. Thanks.

I used the Number Properties guide to work on divisibility and primes (since those questions are everywhere in the GMAT). I used the Inequality guide mainly to work on VICs (<b>V</b>ariables expressions <b>I</b>n the answer <b>C</b>hoices) and manipulating formulas.

All of their GMAT guides are written in a similar fashion so if they work for you, get them all.

Good luck!

Hey Valleyball,

were the archive challenges useful? I mean the online additional math drills. These were advance drills. In the course you are automatically entitled to these drills.

My strength is not math so I found the challenges useful. How much do they charge? If it's not that much, it can't hurt to see more difficult Q problems. Know what I mean?

The achive challenges cost USD 79. So if I want to buy it, I want to be sure that the drills would improve my score. My recent quant score is 46. What was yours prior and after taking the manhattan gmat course? How much did your score jump up?

I've never taken the challenges but some of my friends said they are pretty good. Worth $79? Not sure about that one. How many problems do you get?

Math is not my strongest subject so I'll be happy to hit a ~40.

$79 for 120 questions. Btw, what was your final gmat score? I am sure your verbal score is above 40.

I dont have any of the Manhattan GMAT guides, but have heard a few good things about it.

i am just wondering, if anyone knows how good is the CR and RC guide?

Also, I noticed that I have problem setting up algebraic problems, is the Word Translation guide good for that?

I think the word translation guide will help you out. The more I study it (and the rest of the MGMAT Q guides), the more I realize that the MGMAT crew have done a good job getting all the topics and fundamentals down. Once you get the basics down in the guides, you can move to the OG guide for some realistic questions.

Personally, the only V guide I've used from them is the SC one. MGMAT uses a diagramming strategy for CR and RC that I have been unable to use effectively. Basically, I just do not write fast enough for their strategies to work. But everyone has his or her own preferences and strengths, you know?

Good luck!

Do you know how good are the Manhattan Gmat guides for the quant sections such as the number properties, fractions, etc. How good are the quant guides?

If you need guides to walk you through the Q section of the GMAT, these guides are good. They will review all the basic concepts that are generally tested. However, if you already have a Q background and are looking for 650-700+, I think these guides may be a little too rudimentary for you.

I have found the guides very useful although Q has never been one of my strengths.

Question:

Have any of you purchased the new MGMAT books for use with the OG 11th guide?

I bought 3 of the MGMAT books (SC, RC/CR and Geometry), and because I had success I wanted to get the other 4. However, I have the OG 10th Edition and don't really need the 11th Edition from what I've read.

Has anyone encountered any difference b/w the guides? Please let me know. Thanks.

Good books,
for starters though... its a good book to get the concepts flushed out! Not to improve score from high 6XX to above 700!

Good book to start with.

Do you think it's good enough just to get between a 550-600?
