An ingredient in marijuana known as THC has been found to inactivate herpesviruses in experiments. In previous experiments researchers found that inactivated herpesviruses can convert healthy cells into cancer cells. It can be concluded that the use of marijuana can cause cancer.

Out of given options b stands out as it gives an counter argument and provides a fact which weakens the conclusion : It can be concluded that the use of marijuana can cause cancer.

How is B not the correct weakener ? Here it is explicitly mentioned that the carcinogenic effect of THC is countered by other ingredients of marijuana and this implies that marijuana as a whole won't cause cancer because of "other ingredients". I might be wrong, can you please explain ?
