Can someone bounce back to me if this is correct or if I am missing any scenario to increase market share in a market that is growing? I am trying to improve my "CR quant questions" skills... ; )
In an increasing market, if market player X increases its market share it must always be true that X grew above the overall market growth rate.
Thanks already!

The above scenario may not be true all the time. Consider that the player X increased it's market share by 5% and the overall market share may have increased by more than 5% or less than 5% (if other player's market share has decreased). In an increasing market, it is not necessary for all the player's share to increase. Some may increase and some may not.

Hi!
Thanks for your reply. I think you are missing a key part of my question: I an increasing market, if player x increases its market share, must it be true that this one player grew above the growth rate of the total market?
You are answering the question: in an increasing market, must it be true that every player increases its market share? I agree with you that the answer to your question is no. Not every player must increase its market share in an increasing market but the players that do increase their market share must be growing above the average growth rate of the entire market. At least that is what I have come to believe now.
