Hi Buddies,

I want to improve my maths score, currently oscillating between 42 and 47. I want to give GMAT in 1 month. Need your valuable advice.
I had got 47 in my last Official Mock but when I wrote exam I got only 42.
I think my DS is certainly weak. Since I am free now, I can study without any time constraints. The only factor is 1 month time.

Thanks

Hi
Analyze the last mock thoroughly. Carefully categorize each question that you got wrong. Whether it was due to silly mistake or a concept that you were not aware or you did not read the question carefully or the question was very hard. Based on that work on your weakness. Brush up the concepts in which you are weak. Stick to official material and Gmat prep tests. Since DS is your weakness solve as much DS as possible.
Hope it helps.

Hi vinus,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?
4) How did you score on the Official GMAT (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) What is your exact date to retake the GMAT?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi vinus,

GMAC has publicly stated that the Official Score that you earn on Test Day is within +/- 30 points of actual ability. Given the 'swings' in the Scaled Scores on your practice CATs (and Official GMAT), I have a few questions about how you took your CATs:

1) On what dates did you take each of these CATs and the Official GMAT?
2) Did you take the ENTIRE CAT each time (including the Essay and IR sections)?
3) Did you take the CATs at home?
4) Did you take the CATs at the same time of day as when you took your Official GMAT?
5) Did you ever do ANYTHING during your CATs that you couldn't do on Test Day (pause the CAT, skip sections, take longer breaks, etc.)?
6) Did you ever take a CAT more than once? Had you seen any of the questions BEFORE (re: in an online forum or in a practice set)?

Hi Vinus,

I went through every question in GMATPrep Question Pack 1. On the questions I got wrong, I reviewed those very carefully and looked up the questions on GMATClub forums to see if there was another faster or easier method to do the question. I also took all the math practice tests that GMATClub offers (25+ tests) and spent a lot of time reviewing my incorrect answers. These tests helped me a lot with timing because they are harder than the actual test. I also felt like the explanations were clear and taught me a lot about the common mistakes I was making.
