You have a strong foundation, but for M7 programs, your profile is more borderline than competitive at this stage. A 4.0 GPA from a top public university, combined with experience at Deloitte Consulting, is definitely in line with what schools like Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and The Wharton School look for.
However, your GMAT score of 685 is slightly below the typical range, and given your demographic (male, consulting, overrepresented pool), the expectations are usually higher—so pushing this to 705+ would make a meaningful difference. Additionally, having only 2–3 years of work experience is on the lower side for M7, unless you can demonstrate exceptional impact or rapid progression.
As things stand, HBS and Stanford would be a stretch, while schools like Wharton and MIT are possible but still competitive. Columbia, Kellogg, and Booth are relatively more attainable within M7 with strong execution. Overall, if you can improve your GMAT and/or apply with another year of impactful experience at Deloitte, your chances would improve significantly.
We have worked with many applicants over the years who have secured admission to M7 programs. You can read some of their testimonials on our website and also here on GMATclub.
We try to maximise your potential and align the application to the specific school requirements. It comes down to the uniqueness of your profile and the strength and uniqueness of your overall narrative or stories.
