MBA deadlines

Question

Hi,

I am checking MBA application deadlines . I am a Marine engineer and I came back to land before few days. So left with few days for application work. I am writing my GMAT exam on December 30th. I am currently in US on H4 visa for my vacation as my wife works in Seattle. As I am already in US, do I have to apply before R3 or I have time till Round 4?

Also, Is it possible for me to start studying in H4 visa (if I go for R4 applications) & convert to F1 little later.?

Hello

Applying in R3 means your chances of getting selected will be very low. And most schools have three rounds, not all schools have four rounds. Giving GMAT in December end you will have very little time to write essays and prepare an overall decent application. And if at all, you are not satisfied with your score and need to take it again, there will be no time to retake it and prepare your application in time for R3. The best course of action is therefor to apply next year in R!. As far as your visa is concerned, you will only need to shift it to F1 once you have secured admission in a B-school.

I am Marine engineer and it will be difficult for me to study if I go for sailing now. Because I will be completely out of touch from whole world and my work will be tough with no vacation and not much break time. So I am thinking if it is possible to study for gmat this time itself with out waiting for next year.

Do I have option of applying for Spring admissions.? I don't see spring admission deadlines for many colleges.

Are there any success stories of ppl who wrote GMAT in January and got into good business school?

I am much upset please help.

Spring admission is rare... there are a few schools who have a Jan intake but you are really late for those - school starts in 3 weeks for them.

You can take the GMAT in a few weeks - sure. Some folks will for the R2 deadline, but do you have your essays, recommendations, and all the other elements of the application together? GMAT is a minor thing when you consider the whole thing.

I have started working for preparing applications. But I have not completed it perfectly. I can do it in parallel but I am not sure if I can write my GMAT in 1 month. I have prepared a lot over last 2 months but preparation does not look enough.
